Butterflies & Moths ?

Both butterflies and moths go through a similar lifecycle but there a nummber of difference.

Butterflies usually fly at day
Moths are active at night
         
Butterlflies are brightly coloured  
Moths are dull browns and greys
         
Butterflies have thin, club-ended feelers
 
Moths have feathery feelers
         
Most butterfly caterpillars, form an exposed pupa, also termed a chrysalis.
 
Most moth caterpillars spin a cocoon made of silk within which they metamorphose into the pupal stage.
         

Butterflies have slender and smoother abdomens and possess fine scales.

 
Moths have stout and hairy or furry-looking bodies and have larger scales on their wings.
