There are 3 states of matter in water. They are Solid, Liquid and Gas.
Water changes state from one to another
Gas to Liquid
When water changes its states from gas to liquid the process is called Condensation.
This is when the gas cools and loses energy then the particles are forced to change state, from a gas to a liquid.

Liquid to Gas
This is the reverse of Condensation and called Evaporation. In this process in which a liquid changes into a gas. When a liquid gains enough energy, it can overcome all of the attracting forces then it changes state, from a liquid to a gas.
Evaporation is a type of vaporization of a liquid that occurs only on the surface of a liquid. The other type of vaporization is boiling, which, instead, occurs on the entire mass of the liquid.

Liquid to Solid
When a liquid changes to a solid when its temperature is lowered below its freezing point the liquid cools below the freezing point and loses energy and the process is called Freezing ang the particles are forced to change state, from a liquid to a solid.

Solid to Liquid
This is reverse process of Freezing and called melting and in this procss a solid changes into a liquid.
The internal energy of a substance is increased, typically by the application of heat or pressure, resulting in a rise of its temperature to the melting point, at which the rigid ordering of molecular entities in the solid breaks down to a less-ordered state and the solid liquefies. |

Gas to Solid
When gas changes directly into a solid, without going through the liquid state, it is called Frost Formation.Frost is the solid deposition of water vapor from saturated air. It is formed when solid surfaces are cooled to below the dew point of the adjacent air as well as below the freezing point of water |

Solid to Gas
When a solid changes directly to a gas without passing through an intermediate liquid phase the process is called Sublimation.
Sublimation is an endothermic phase transition that occurs at temperatures and pressures below a substance's triple point in its phase diagram. |
